This course will examine the many conflicting views of this famous, or infamous, Shakespearean play. We will examine Shakespeare’s use and choice of language, the place of stagecraft, staging, and history of the theatre in Shakespeare’s time, the perplexing clash of content and form of the play, the historical, cultural, and modern interpretations of the play; and if there is truly a villain or hero of the story
